Bucks County Coffee Company Names Two New Executives to Management Team:

Julian Lavers,
Vice President,
Wholesale Division
and
Michael J. Connolly,
Vice President,
Retail Division

LANGHORNE, PA—November 14, 2003—Rodger Owen, founder and President, Bucks County Coffee Company, the Mid-Atlantic region's leading privately-owned coffee micro-roaster, announces the appointment of two executives to the company's management team: Julian P. Lavers as Executive Vice President, Wholesale Division, and Michael J. Connolly as Vice President, Retail Stores Division.

Both executives bring more than 30 years of senior management expertise to Bucks County Coffee Company. Mr. Lavers brings more than 34 years of sales experience with a particular focus on food service, convenience stores and supermarket sales—three key market segments that Bucks County is now targeting for future growth. Prior to joining Bucks County Coffee, Mr. Lavers was Vice President, National Accounts and Distributor Sales for Boyd Coffee Company in Portland, Oregon, a West Coast leader in roasting and marketing a full line of specialty coffee products and equipment.

Mr. Lavers replaces Kathy Owen, who moves into a new role as Vice President, Marketing for Bucks County Coffee.

Michael J. Connolly arrives at Bucks County Coffee with more than 30 years of experience in the retail supermarket industry, with Genuardi's Family Markets, Inc. Prior to joining Bucks County, Mr. Connolly was Director of Retail Operations for the well-known market chain, based in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Having started with the company in 1973, he climbed through the ranks, gaining expertise in virtually every aspect of the retail supermarket industry.

"Julian Lavers is a top-flight sales professional with a long track record of achievements in the coffee industry," said Rodger Owen, "and Mike Connolly is a retail operations wizard with both the industry contacts and experience that are tailor-made for our needs.

"With our company in the midst of a fast-track expansion—coffee lovers will soon be able to buy our products in more than 600 locations from New York to Richmond—we need both Julian's and Mike's leadership and specific expertise to manage this growth and more."

Based in Langhorne, PA, Bucks County Coffee Company is a micro-roaster of fine coffee. Founded in 1982 in Yardley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the company now owns and operates 43 retail stores, with wholesale distribution reaching from New York to Richmond, Virginia. This month, Bucks County Coffee Company's newest retail store opens at The Shoppes at English Village, in North Wales, PA, with two other retail stores soon to open: in Center City Philadelphia's The Shops at Liberty Place, and at the University of Pennsylvania Café.

Bucks County's Fair Trade and Organic Certified Guatemala varietal recently earned internationally-renowned coffee tasting expert Kenneth Davids' highest overall rating in a June taste test of gourmet coffees sold in supermarkets throughout the United States. The company sells a variety of fresh roasted whole bean coffees, brewed coffees, and a variety of frozen granita drinks.
